Special Services
 Student Success Team- The SST (Student Success Team) was organized to assist those students who are struggling or having problems in academics and with behavior. The SST is comprised of teachers and other school professionals who meet to positively come up with ideas and strategies to assist a child's learning experience. Referrals are made by regular classroom teachers.
Resource Specialist - Mrs. Sakamoto is the Special Resource Teacher and works in Room 14. She has special training for identifying students with learning disabilities and for helping them to overcome their difficulties with learning. She is at Orangewood servicing students daily.
Special Education Classes - Mrs. Young teaches our children with special needs in room 5. Mrs. McAfee and Ms. Alice Tanner teach our special needs county class in room 18. Our special education classes offer small classes with an emphasis on mainstreaming students.
Speech/Language Services- Tamara Van Dam is the Speech-Language Pathologist for Orangewood Elementary School, Edison Middle School, and the preschools in the District. Children receive treatment for expressive and receptive language, stuttering, voice, phonological processing, articulation, and social difficulties. This is her 7th year with Edison School District. She earned her Masters Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology, a B.A. in Liberal Studies, a credential in Communication Science Disorders, and a multiple subjects credential from Chico State University. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and California Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CSHA).
